Recreational Forestry
The Forestry Service is presently managing (3) three Nature Walks namely: Powder Mills at Pamplemousses (near SSR National Hospital), Monvert at Forest Side, Sophie, near Mare-aux-Vacoas reservoir with a view to provide leisure and recreation to both the local population and tourists. Moreover, Nature Walks provide a great opportunity for people to learn and appreciate the rare indigenous and endemic fauna and flora, their value to society and the need to conserve them.
During the year 2018, some 19,128 tourists and locals visited these Nature Walks and some 52 guided tours by Forest Officers were proposed to visitors.
